Dear Human, Since I have allowed you to live in my home, I have managed to evict you from my home from the hours of 5 am to roughly 7 pm, Monday through Friday. However, this week has been different. I have tried many tactics to make you leave.

In a world where increasingly we have the ability to work from home and our teams are becoming more geographically diverse, how do we balance the needs of the workplace with the realities of our home life?

Unpredictability has now become more of a norm than most companies would like. There’s exciting change, and then there’s unplanned, “what does this mean for us” change. As change leaders, it’s important for us to not only understand the change but communicate it effectively and impactfully to our teams.

Digital transformation, mergers & acquisitions and modern workplace development are all lofty objectives for today’s executive. Enabling the workforce to utilize the resources offered to them is the difference between success and failure of these shifts.

Organizations have evolved to become leaner, more diverse and more far-reaching. We no longer have typical work environments where the individuals you interact with or service exist within a building or even a similar geography.

Today, as Millennials become a larger percentage of the workforce, just providing direction won’t be enough.

Change can be scary, but without it how do we grow? We view change as an opportunity to improve how we operate.

When most of us hear the phrase Training and Development, we can instantly recall some of our worst corporate training experiences. Whether it was a day-long workshop on strategies which were never implemented or a mandatory training on software which no one was invested in, we’ve all had our fair share of disappointing trainings.

Over the course of my 25+ years as a corporate trainer, I’ve taught thousands of classes. Each class requires a slightly different combination of skills from my trainer’s grab bag of abilities. When I teach new trainers, I always start with an exercise where I ask them, “What skills do you think a good trainer possesses?”
