Communicating Across Generations Course Description
This course was designed to review some best practices for communicating and working with colleagues from different age groups in the workplace. In this course, students will learn a variety of ways that thinking in terms of generations can help them create an accommodating and productive workplace for team members from all backgrounds. We will review a range of communication styles that may be most suitable for different generations, as well as methods to ensure that all colleagues have their needs met and their preferences respected. This course will also discuss some of the potential pitfalls of overreliance on generational stereotypes and how to distinguish between the useful applications of generational cohorts and the difficulties and frustrations that can result from their misuse. Upon completion of this course, students will gain greater understanding of how to relate to all their colleagues in ways that best suit everyone’s needs.
