Developed by an expert in strategic leadership and management, human resources, education, cultural diversity and inclusion, and a TEDx speaker on the subject matter, this course equips participants with the strategies and tools necessary to effectively respond to incidents of bullying and incivility. In this course, we underscore the importance of rapid response in mitigating the negative impacts of workplace mistreatment once clearly identified. Participants will explore various scenarios and events that may arise, learning how to respond effectively at different levels within the organization. Self-response, co-worker response, manager response, and leader response will be examined, emphasizing the importance of swift action and support mechanisms at each level. The course will explain what actions should be considered before, during, and after an investigation, emphasizing the need for thoroughness, fairness, and confidentiality. Furthermore, participants will learn about the importance of team support, manager support, and third-party support services in facilitating resolution and healing. By evaluating findings and analyzing whether incidents are isolated or systemic, participants will identify areas for improvement and create processes to address them. Restorative justice practices will be explored as a means of rebuilding culture and repairing relationships in the aftermath of workplace conflicts. Emphasis will be placed on existing cultural norms and expectations, with education provided on any new expectations or clarifications. Reporting mechanisms and conflict resolution skills will be reinforced, highlighting the importance of establishing confidential channels for reporting incidents and providing training on effective conflict resolution techniques.
